About Concrete Permeability Apparatus
Concrete Permeability Apparatus is used for testing the water permeability of concrete. High pressure permeability test are conducted on various sizes of specimens by different cells. Herein, Cell is available with a top plate and funnel fitted at the bottom that comprises gasket seals held in position by various nuts &bolts. The concrete specimens are sealed inside the cell to avoid any leakage beside the side walls. Each unit is available with test pressure gauge of 0-15kg/cm and chamber pressure gauge of 0-20kg/cm
2. As a result, pressure can be applied using any available pressure line at the compressor or site. It can be supplied without compressor and glass bottles. The various models available with us are:
- Single Cell Model for specimen size 150mm cube
- Three Cell Model for specimen size 150mm cube
- Single Cell Model for Specimen Size 100mm dia. x 100mm high
- Three Cell Model for Specimen Size 100mm dia. x 100mm high
- Single Cell Model for Specimen Size 150mm dia. x 150mm high
- Three Cell Model for Specimen Size 150mm dia. x 150mm high
Key Features and ConstructionCrafted with high-quality mild steel or stainless steel, the Concrete Permeability Apparatus boasts corrosion-resistant epoxy or powder coatings, ensuring longevity and reliability in demanding laboratory settings. The triple cell unit measures approximately 600 mm x 400 mm x 900 mm and weighs around 55 kg, making it both stable and manageable. Pressure control is facilitated by a robust gauge and regulating valve, ensuring safety with a relief valve and protective guard.
Precision Testing for Concrete DurabilityEngineered to comply with IS 3085:1965, the apparatus uses three specimen cells to deliver highly accurate permeability measurements for concrete. Versatile mounting options allow seamless integration into existing lab setups.
FAQs of Concrete Permeability Apparatus:
Q: How does the Concrete Permeability Apparatus function in testing concrete specimens?
A: The apparatus assesses the permeability of concrete by applying regulated water pressure (up to 15 kg/cm) onto cylindrical specimens of 150 mm diameter and 150 mm height. This process determines the rate at which water permeates through the sample, indicating its durability and resistance to ingress. The readings are precise and conform to IS 3085:1965 standards.
Q: What accessories are included with the triple cell Concrete Permeability Apparatus?
A: Each apparatus is supplied with a three-cell permeability assembly, pressure gauge, water tank, rubber gaskets, clamps, and sturdy sample holders. These components ensure effective sample mounting, tight sealing, and reliable measurements during testing procedures.
Q: When should concrete permeability testing be conducted in construction projects?
A: Permeability tests are typically performed on concrete samples before or after curing to evaluate potential durability and water resistance. Ideal timing is during laboratory quality checks, research studies, or as part of project compliance measures to ensure long-term structural integrity.
Q: Where in the laboratory should the apparatus be installed for optimum use?
A: The unit can be flexibly installed on the floor or a suitable bench. Its dimensions (600 mm x 400 mm x 900 mm for triple cell unit) and sturdy construction allow secure placement in laboratories regardless of available workspace, facilitating convenient access and operation.
Q: What are the safety features included in the Concrete Permeability Apparatus?
A: The design incorporates a pressure relief valve and a safety guard to protect users from accidental pressure surges. Epoxy or powder-coated finishes further enhance operational safety by preventing rust and maintaining equipment integrity.
Q: How does the apparatus benefit laboratory testing of concrete?
A: By providing high-precision, standard-compliant permeability measurements, this apparatus enhances laboratory evaluation of concrete for water resistance and longevity. Its durable construction, safe operation, and easy sample handling make it a valuable tool for quality assurance and research.
